Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux

Born in 1995 in the West Indies on the island of Guadeloupe, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux now lives and works in Paris, France. Deloumeaux graduated with an MFA from Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2023.

In the manner of the mangrove, a tropical ecosystem at the crossroads of the forest and the swamp, where all the trees are entangled and mix their roots at the bottom of the water, the plastic gesture of Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux extends on the territories of the imaginary and the history. He operates a work of experimentation and documentation, focusing on matrimonial, symbolic and spiritual images. He reappropriates the places and spaces he has crossed through a gallery of portraits, fragments mixed with an intimate story and the larger story of a unique territory, that of the West Indies. His work is a form of initiatory journey, a reappropriation of an ancestral self that passes through a confrontation with its own darkness, before awakening to its own light. A passage from ignorance to self-knowledge that requires a "killing" of illusions.

His work has recently been exhibited at Perrotin (Paris & Dubai), Cécile Fakhoury (Paris & Abidjan), Paris + par Art Basel (solo), Kó Artspace (Lagos) etc. Later this year, Deloumeaux will open his debut museum solo at Museo Etorre Fico in Torino (Italy) and will be featured in the Dakar Biennale of 2024.
